Co-organized with Tess Given and sponsored by the Cultural Studies program at Indiana University, this two-day symposium centered on the relationship between vision technologies and environmental thought. Speakers included Gloria Kim, J.T. Tremblay, Steven Swarbrick, Susan Lepselter, Shane Greene, Hannah Goodwin, and Salar Mameni. The event also included a film screening of original short films by Dominick Rivers.

Originally planned to take place at Indiana University Bloomington, the 2020 Science Fiction Research Association (SFRA) Annual Conference centered on Forms of Fabulation—exploring fabulation as both a political force and a narrative mode in science fiction, fantasy, and the new weird. With keynote speakers Tavia Nyong’o, Kate Marshall, and John Crowley, the event aimed to probe the ethics of fiction in a post-truth era. **While the SFRA was cancelled in 2020, it was replaced by a two-day Works in Progress Zoomposium held in July and organized by David Higgins and the SFRC.

Co-organized with Jeanne Vaccaro and held at Indiana University, this two-day symposium to brought together editors and contributors from the WSQ special issue, Child, and the GLQ special issue, The Child Now. Speakers included Sarah Chinn and Anne Mae Duane (WSQ) and Jules Gill-Peterson and Kathryn Bond Stockton (GLQ). Events also included a special brown bag discussion with Stockon on her book Making Out.

Co-organized with Nathan Snaza and sponsored by the Humanities Program at the University of Richmond, this two-day symposium featured speakers from the Occult Natures speaker series at Indiana University with keynote lectures by Sophie Lewis and Solimar Otero.

Informally known as the “Bloomington Edition,” the sixth iteration of the Tuning Speculation series and workshop centered on the theme of the Occult. Keynote speakers included Jayna Brown (Pratt Institute) and Joyelle McSweeney (University of Notre Dame).

Organized by Richard Grusin at the Center for 21st-century Studies, University of Wisconsin, this field-defining conference led to the publication of The Nonhuman Turn reader from University of Minnesota Press. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Center, I helped to imagine and run this event.

Co-organized with Jonathan Alexander and sponsored by the Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies and the Humanities Center at UC Irvine, this one-day online event on queer utopia featured a film screening of Once a Fury and talk with director Jacquline Rhodes as well as panel discussions with Jules Gill-Peterson, Sherryl Vint, Jayna Brown, Alexis Lothian, Juno Richards, and others.

Co-organized with Monique Morgan and Ed Comantale and held at Indiana University, this one-day conference featured panels with experts on science fiction, including Gerry Canavan and Everett Hamner. Additional events included a film screening, an undergrad discussion with Margaret Atwood, and a public reading and interview with Monique Morgan.
